Donald Healey projected a small open sports car that was provided as the Austin Healy Sprite MK V. British Motor Corporation (BMC) declared the release of this car in 1958, at which time it was a little, low cost sports car proposed to fill the hole in the market left by the small pre-war Austin seven sports cars. The design was established on the Morris Motor Company A-series engine and used as many components from living cars as possible to keep the cost as low as possible. From 1966 to1971 the terms on the vehicle conditions are: a 1275 cc A-Series I4, 65 hp (48 kW) at 6000 rpm and 72 ft•lbf (98 Nm) at 3000 rpm. It seems that these components were not sufficient to lure drivers to make orders, seeing that the Sprite was scratched in 1971. For the final year of sales it was sold as the purely the Austin Sprite. Some of the Midgets, which were published a few years later, share the same body. These vehicles are amusingly called "Spridgets" by classic car buffs. If you are lucky you may be able to observer one of these classics at a demo around the world. The Mark IV and Mark III MG were slam cousins of the Sprite. They however, controlled a larger 1275cc engine, with a few other cosmetic changes. Most notable while is the change from a removable, boot-stow able adaptable top to an enduringly affixed, manually foldable top. Furthermore, the larger engine missing some of its advantage throughout the use of smog pumps and other emissions necessities in the United States. It seems this is the price that is paid in order to make sure cleaner air and superior health for those near or roughly such vehicle. Of course, there is somewhat of a backlash from those who are much more worried with the operation of the automobile and less troubled with air quality.
