Transporting a car from one place to another surely takes a toll on us, so it is important that you prepare your car properly before you give the car to be transported. In such case it is important that you remove all the other accessories from your car. It will be a good idea that you make a note of the damages of the car and try and take maximum photos from different angles, so that you can ascertainment the damages caused to your vehicle has been transported.
Thus after the ascertainment of the damage you can claim your insurance amount. You can even call the transport company and ask them if they have any established guidelines for preparing your car before it gets transported. Ensure that you fill in the batteries of the car so that as the car lands reaches the destination you can move it. Also check that your car tires are filled so that your journey would be easy after reaching the destination.
Also be careful that you do not fill the entire tank with gas as this adds upon to your car's weight. Check for any leakages. As your car is loaded ensure that you have folded all mirrors, pushed in the antenna and switched off all the appliances including the alarm. I know this all looks minor adjustments but they are worth to make a note of.
