Why is it important to have a Bill of lading?

Bill of Lading is a contract to carry the goods to the said destination based on which seller can claim consideration and buyer can take delivery of the goods. The form contains the complete address and telephone number for the point of origin of the shipment and the shipping destination and vehicle information. Note down the make, model, year, license plate number and VIN number of your vehicle. Bill of lading also includes an inspection area where in you can record information relating to major dents and defects in your car. Bill of lading will also include information like fees and payment, the carrier's statement of liability, terms and conditions, signature area. When your vehicle is delivered make a thorough inspection of your vehicle before signing the sign of lading. Once the Bill of lading is signed, you have released the driver, the carrier and its insurance company from any liability. Your broker cannot do anything if you find any damage after the release of the vehicle. If you find any damage in your vehicle, note down all the damage and obtain the driver's signature, and then contact the carrier.
