Common issues when shipping your car and how to prevent them

Incorrect address.  The chance of misspelling your new address is possible. There are a few cities that share the same name. If you are moving to Arlington, be sure to have your vehicle shipped to the correct city in either Texas or Virginia. Double check everything!

Incorrect payment method at delivery. There are two options for payment. 1) is to charge the full amount to your credit card. 2) is to charge a $200 deposit to your credit card at pickup and then pay the balance at delivery.  Read the fine print carefully because auto transport companies do not accept personal checks or money orders, only cash or cashier’s check at delivery.

Delayed delivery. This is probably one of the most common issues that can arise. Once your car is loaded onto the auto transporter the driver will give you an estimated delivery window. They can’t guarantee an exact delivery date because unexpected circumstances can occur and delay your car shipment. Some examples could be bad weather conditions, road construction, accidents or truck mechanical issues. It is always a good idea to have a backup plan just in case your car runs a day or two late.

Damage to your vehicle. At pickup carefully inspect your car with the auto transport driver. Take pictures if you can and get a copy of the bill of lading from the driver. When your vehicle arrives, make sure to thoroughly inspect it in a well-lit area for any scratches or dents.  More often than not, your vehicle will be delivered in the same condition as it was shipped!

I hope that this information is helpful to you when you plan your car shipment. Never hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns that you might have, whether you ship with us or not :)
