How to ship a car that doesn't run?

You can ship your car even if it is not operational. INOP for short.

An inoperable vehicle is one that does not start or can’t move using its own power.

Since your can’t be driven onto the auto transport carrier, the auto transporter will have to use a special equipment, usually a winch, to get your car up onto the car shipper.

Even though your car doesn’t need to start to be able to be shipped, your car does needs to be able to roll, steer and brake in order for it to be winched onto the truck.

Keep in mind, that before deciding to ship an inoperable car, depending on why your vehicle doesn’t run, the cost of repairs may be lower than the cost of shipping an inoperable vehicle (i.e. replacing a key, installing a new battery, etc.)

There is an additional $150-$200 fee for the extra labor and use of special equipment that shipping a non-operational vehicles requires.
